Edward Im, DDS

Dr. Edward Im is a Family, Comprehensive, Cosmetic dentist. He grew up locally, while actively participating in numerous community sports and activities, and graduated as the valedictorian from Seattle University in 1995. Dr. Im has a unique background as a dentist, because he first went to Medical School at Creighton University and was a medical officer for the United States Army. However, after a heartfelt career change, he ultimately graduated with distinction and honors from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. Dr. Im is an active member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and the Seattle-King County Dental Society. A perfectionist at heart, Dr. Im strives to achieve excellence with every procedure, while practicing compassion with a gentle touch.

Gaoman (Gina) Gu, DDS, MSD, PhD

Dr. Gu is a General Practitioner of Dentistry with comprehensive and advanced training in Orthodontics. She has been in dental profession for 25 years. Dr. Gu got her DDS degree from China in 1983, and she completed an advanced continue education and got a certificate in orthodontics from China in 1986. She further pursued an advanced orthodontic training from 1992 to 1997 in Japan, and obtained her PhD degree in Dental Science in 1997. She moved to the US in 1997, and worked for the Department of Orthodontics, University of Washington from 1998 to 2001. She completed Oral Medicine Graduate Program and earned an Oral Medicine Certificate, and was granted the degree of Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) from University of Washington in 2003. Currently, Dr. Gu provides various dental services in the Eastside of Metro Seattle. Dr. Gu has been not only a multi-cultural disciplined dentist but also has been an accomplished researcher. Her research involves the fields of the craniofacial growth and morphology, head-neck posture, mechanisms of malocclusion, tooth movement, and bone distraction. She has a number of publications in the various dental journals in the US, Europe, Japan and China.

Steve Hwang, DDS

Dr. Steve Hwang is a native of the Eastside area. He grew up in Kirkland where he attended elementary, Jr. High, and High School. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1994 with Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Dr. Hwang received his DDS degree from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1998. To further his education in general dentistry, he completed a residency program from University of Minnesota in 1999. After practicing in Chicago for 3 years, Dr. Hwang moved back to Seattle in 2001.

Dr. Hwang makes every effort to make patient comfort a priority. He provides treatment using the latest techniques, technology, and materials. Dr. Hwang is a member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and the Seattle King County Dental Society. He enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Betsy Mosquera, DDS, MSD

Dr. Betsy Rocio Mosquera was born in Bogotá, Colombia (South America). She received her D.D.S. in 1991 and came to the U.S. in 1995. Since then she has lived in New York City, Boston, Chicago and Saint Louis before settling in Seattle. In St Louis, Missouri Dr. Mosquera received her advanced dental degree in the field of periodontics at Saint Louis University. Dr. Mosquera is directing our Hygiene Department while providing advanced periodontal care including dental implants, surgical and non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease and numerous other surgical procedures to improve patient’s health as well as their smile.

David Kwon, DDS

Dr. H. David Kwon is a general dentist that has experience in many different facets of dentistry including root canals, extractions and dentures. Dr. Kwon had been a long time resident of Washington state prior to pursuing his education out of state. Dr. Kwon attended college at Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s in biology. He then attended New York University to receive a Master’s of Science in Biology. Dr. Kwon remained in New York City to attend dental school at Columbia University where he received his DDS degree. In order to further expand his dental experiences, Dr. Kwon decided to pursue a residency at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco where he completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency.

After completing numerous years of dental education, Dr. Kwon returned to Washington where he has been practicing dentistry for the last several years. Dr. Kwon is an active member in multiple local and national dental societies including the Seattle-King County Dental Society, Washington State Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Dr. Kwon has recently joined our team here at Sunrise and is excited to bring his own expertise to deliver comprehensive treatment to all our patients.

Chau Do, DMD

Dr. Do graduated from Nova Southeastern University School of Dental Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, May 2001.  After graduation, she joined the US Navy, and was stationed at Norfolk, VA and Pearl Harbor, HI. In the Navy, she attained advanced training in the fields of Oral Surgery and Endodontics, performing extensive wisdom teeth extractions and root canals. In 2004, Dr. Do was awarded the prestigious Commanding Officer Award for Clinical Excellence.  After four years in the military, Dr. Do settled down in Seattle with her husband and three kids.  She practices dentistry whole-heartedly with the utmost care and gentleness, and is especially wonderful with children and the most dental phobic patients.

Abraham Ghorbanian, DDS, MS

Dr. Abraham Ghorbanian attended East Texas A&M at Commerce, TX and graduated with a Bachelors in Biology & English in 1992. He attended University of Texas at San Antonio and graduated with a M.S. in Biological Sciences in 1994. He attended the School of Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and graduated in 1998.

With an interest in progressive dentistry, Dr. Ghorbanian has completed many hours of continuing education programs and advanced dental education. He also is an active member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association and Seattle-King County Dental Society. As a participant in The Pankey Institute Continuum, Dr. Ghorbanian has recieved many honors and he perceives his patients as his own family members.

Stephen F. Mackey, DDS

Dr. Mackey possesses an enormous range of dental experience, having graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry, followed by over forty years of dental practice. He has extensive knowledge of endodontics, oral surgery, minor periodontal surgery, and implant procedures. Dr. Mackey is a true leader in the field of family and comprehensive dentistry.

John Kim, DDS

Dr. Kim graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California, in May 2001. After graduation, he voluntarily joined the US Army to serve his country and to gain more education and experience. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. He received extensive training in several fields such as endo, oral surgery, perio surgery and implants.

In 2006, he opened a beautiful and modern dental clinic at Kent East Hill, and recently joined our team. His ultimate goal is being gentle and to provide the best quality patient care and education possible.

Dale Ha, RDH

Dale grew up locally in the Seattle area where she attended Elementary, Jr. High, and High School. In 1980, she graduated from Shoreline Community College, through the Dental Hygiene Program, with outstanding honors. She has been in practice for over 24 years, working in various offices throughout King County.

“My philosophy is always to do a great job with the utmost care and compassion. I tend to be a perfectionist so everyone that I worked for also had to fall into that category.” 

Dale occupies her spare time with her family, friends and yoga. She now works as a part time hygienist and is the district manager for the Sunrise Dental Corporation and their nine local practices.
